Italian Restaurant & the Princess Theatre Honour the ClassicsMay 15, 2014
Melbourne’s theatre precinct will be buzzing this winter with a lavish production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s time-honoured classic, ‘The King and I’, playing at the Princess Theatre from June 10.
Just around the corner at 35 Little Bourke Street, you’ll find an Italian restaurant that also honours the classics within its menu: bruschetta, bolognese and tiramisu (pictured) sit alongside more inventive takes on Italian food such as duck prosciutto and persimmon panna cotta.
Mezzo’s all-Italian kitchen team is led by Head Chef Mirco Speri, who trained in Italy before earning his culinary stripes at Michelin-star restaurants in the UK and Europe. Mirco then settled in Melbourne where he worked with renowned chef Ian Curley at The Point Restaurant (Albert Park) and The European (Spring St, Melbourne).
